I can't be blogging again without noting the democratic situation...

I've stated before that I voted for Hillary. Obama has now all but wrapped up the democratic nomination for president. I've also stated that I'd be pretty happy with Obama.

Here are the things nagging me:
  • Obama's healthcare plan. I still REALLY prefer HRC's plan for universal healthcare.
  • Specious arguments linking Obama to Odinga making for ugly rumor mills, much like in the day of concerns of Obama being Muslim. Oh, the horror (**end dripping sarcasm**)
  • The reports of Clinton supporters choosing McCain over Obama
My husband had stated that there were a large group of Republicans who would come out in droves to vote AGAINST Hillary, should she be nominated. I don't think either of us thought that HRC supporters would turn to McCain over Obama.

This country can be sooooo silly sometimes. We're going to shoot ourselves in the foot, and have 8 more years of Iraq.

Why, oh farking WHY, could we not have saved ourselves all of this, and had President Gore when we had the chance???

Did NOT get bumped from the train, in fact, the bike car was pretty mellow, full, but mellow, there didn't seem to be a lot of WWDC traffic at the time I went.

EVERYTHING is turned in... and I'm off to run an errand BY MYSELF, and without stuff hanging over my head.

I won't be uploading this quarter's paper. As good as I think it actually turned out, it's not THAT interesting - a psychometric analysis of two measurement tools evaluating perceived control. Hmmmm... yeah, fascinating.

It sounds like two weeks ago an inspection of the trains resulted in some necessary repairs of quite a lot of cars (something like sixteen!). As a result, the trains were shorter, with fewer bike slots, and with the weather getting nice, more cyclists. I was bumped from a train for the first time in my year commuting. Thank goodness my year is ending, and I only have this one last trip up to turn in my final. I suspect the summer will be pretty brutal.

As it was, myself, and a few of the other guys who were bumped from this train hopped on our bikes, and rode down one station to where the next Baby Bullet train was due to stop shortly. However, unbeknownst to us, there are unwritten rules at this station. I was with another rider looking halfway down the platform for a second bike car (just in case). When we realized there was not we did what we always do at our regular stop, and bolted for the front train. There we were informed to get to the back of the VERY long line, never mind that we were actually AT the station first, second and third. One gentleman who had been standing there vouched for that, and the cranky guy who told me to get to the end said "fine, but you explain it to everyone who gets bumped". I said "we've already BEEN bumped" and got on the train. Once in the car I did get some dirty looks, and loud comments about how the rules should be posted somewhere, to which I should have said "yes, that would actually be helpful", but I did not. However, noone lynched me.

This did confirm to me, though, why the second bike cars are not being used to their full capacity - everyone is scared to lose their place in line to look for it!
View Article  Finally done with finals
My first year is completed!!! Well, sort of. I will be doing a research residency over the summer, but that is in my own time, and I won't be going up to San Francisco multiple times a week.

So today, I hit the train one last time - battling WWDC commuters, I'm sure - to turn in my biostats final and pick up the paperwork needed to register for the summer session.

Then I might just get off the train a few stops early, and take the long way home on my bike. :-)
