I watched the Super Tuesday primary results in fear... not because I was worried about the democratic nominee - as I've noted, I'm comfortable with either Obama or Hillary. Rather I was terrified of the republican results. Mitt Romney has all but announced his unwillingness to separate church and state, and Mike Huckabee has been trying to deny his role in the rape and murder of a young woman from his early pardon of Wayne Dumond, when he was warned repeatedly by those women who had suffered at his hands that the man should not be released.
Thankfully McCain came out with a commanding lead - and since then Romney has dropped out.
I initially joked that having someone so extreme might make the democratic chances more likely, so maybe Romney SHOULD win... but then I realized I thought the same thing of Bush 8 years ago. I'd rather have the "best of the rest" in McCain, and breathe a little more easily.
