Before everyone says "EW!", yes I only am managing to bathe (shower) my kids once a week right now. Despite the best of intentions to get them clean on Tuesdays as well as Saturdays, those Tuesdays are hit-or-miss.
But I have a new theory about that - and I can't find anything to back it up, so here it sits. My theory is that overcleaning results in decreased natural immunity to the bugs they experience every day.
My kids have been uncharacteristically healthy this year (knocks on wood, nay POUNDS on wood). Of course, I say that as my kids are sick, really, for the first time this year...
I worried about the new daycare/school routine as resulting in mega-illness, and yet, Phoebe hasn't missed a day, nor has Chloe. Piper missed a couple last week for her tummy bug, but that's IT so far.
Still plugging the Sambucol, Emergen-C, and whatnot.
Yet we look at the superbugs, vaccinations, over use of antibiotics, and the over-sterilization of our environments, and how that may not be allowing many children to develop good immune systems. So I'm going to cling to the idea that maybe they're healthier for my complete inability to get them clean mid-week...
Or some other excuse or another. :-P
