View Article  Food Allergies Info
The best resources *I* have found as the parent of a food allergic breastfed baby are:

- Food Allergies board at BC
(http://bbs.babycenter.com/board/baby/babyills/9266)

- And Dr Sears' website
(http://www.askdrsears.com/html/4/t041800.asp)

Just including it here because I keep typing that over and over again in different forums...

Why do I WANT my kids to like donuts???

I'm a pretty health conscious mama... they eat a well balanced diet (ok, ok, so that diet includes hotdogs and gogurts, but is otherwise fairly processed-food free). In fact, the first time they TRIED donuts they did NOT like them. I really should have counted my blessings and called it quits.

But no, presented with the opportunity, I make this fun morning outing to go get donuts and/or muffins. I let them watch Sesame Street while they eat them, just to complete the positive experience. WHY?

Uh, that would be my OWN childhood experience with donuts and Saturday morning cartoons and hanging out with my brother, and what a fond memory that is.

Freud would have a field-day with this one, no? Funny how half the experiences we try to give our children are REALLY just about ourselves.

At least they're fraught with good intentions. And let's face it, the dentist will love the repeat business.

ADDENDUM: I've just been informed by my oldest that she really DOESN'T like the donuts, only the muffins... and so I hope that my attempt to create a positive sibling experience is successful despite this, and I should only be thankful that the love of the deep fat fried pastry is not part of the "positive experience" for at least one of my children.
